About
pokepeek is a build log for anticforth, a Forth written from nothing on bare metal.
The name is two Commodore BASIC keywords. PEEK and POKE were how you got
past the interpreter and reached the machine — which, in Forth, are spelled
@ and !.
ANTIC was the Atari 8-bit display coprocessor. It worked by executing display lists: a stream of instructions fetched and interpreted by dedicated hardware. Threaded code in silicon, a few years before anyone put it in a Forth.
